Haydock Park

{racingfixtures|Haydockpark}
The village of Haydock in Merseyside may not be the best known destination for visitors to the North West of the country but with a location halfway between Manchester and Liverpool and easily reached via the M6 it is certainly easy to get to. What makes the village so popular with visitors is not its location however but its most prized asset which is Haydock Park Racecourse, one of the country’s premier horseracing venues and a stage for all year round racing in both National Hunt and flat race fixtures.

Haydock Park, inside rail The location is important in allowing ease of access for visitors to Haydock and with so many first class races on offer a great many racegoers make the trip.

The Flat season highlight is undoubtedly the Group 1 Stanleybet Sprint Cup, held each year in November and one of the key components of the five races to determine the champion sprinter of Europe. Among the highly regarded three miles chases held at the course, the Red Square Vodka, held on February, represent the highlight of the jump season at Haydock Park.

The track is a long oval over one mile and five furlongs, with a five furlong run-in. Stamina is a key ingredient for doing well over the distance with long-striding gallopers finding some notable success.

For the Hunt fixtures, the drop fences and long flat galloping sections make for an ideal preparation for the Cheltenham Gold Cup and Aintree Grand National. The final fence is an open water jump which in combination with a long run-in makes for some spectacular finishes at Haydock and especially on soft ground the stamina-sapping course can throw up some exciting final surprises.

Although within easy reach of some of the country's most concentrated urban centres, Haydock Park is set against a beautiful backdrop of 127 acres of parkland and with 32 racedays in total to choose from provides plenty of opportunities for attending a superb day at the races for those who are simply looking for some recreational activity in the North West. With a range of on-course environments complete with a wide selection of hospitality options anyone can enjoy a memorable day at Haydock races.

Those looking for classic raceday sophistication will opt for the Premier Enclosure, or for the extensive facilities on offer within the County Stand. For a livelier, social-oriented environment there is Tattersalls Stand and the Newton Stand is perfectly suited for families looking for a fun day out. Whichever enclosure option is chosen all the facilities will be available to make the most from a raceday experience, including drinks, dining and betting options.

The top floor of the Centenary Stand houses the Premier Enclosure and offers the best panoramic views over the winning post and entire course. A stylish environment in which to enjoy horseracing, the Premier Enclosure contains a bar, conservatory and selection of betting outlets as well as a first class dining facility, Harry's Bistro Restaurant.

The capacity of the Premier Enclosure is just 450 and represents the ultimate exclusive raceday environment for which prior booking is essential to avoid disappointment.

County Enclosure badge holders also have prime views over the finish line and can gain access to a range of suites within the Tommy Whittle and Centenary Stands. Facilities include the Champagne Conservatory and Seafood Bar, Chasers Bar, Colours Restaurant, and the Whittle and Horseshoe Suites. Seated and standing viewing areas are provided and entry to the County Enclosure also permits access to the Parade Ring and Winners Enclosure for all the pre and post-race formalities. Demand for tickets to the County enclosure is high and prior booking is highly recommended.

Three raised areas provide for all the exciting race viewing while an excellent selection of bars and food outlets contribute to the party atmosphere so enjoyed by guests within the Tattersalls Enclosure. Betting options are provided by numerous Tote outlets and on-course bookmakers.

For a family day out at Haydock Park it is hard to beat the Newton Enclosure. As well as a cafeteria, bar and viewing area there is a children’s play area and during the good weather a bouncy castle is erected during all Saturday fixtures.

Families are welcome to bring a picnic with non-alcoholic drinks, and with admission into the Newton Enclosure costing just £8 per person and children getting in free it represents an excellent value for money day out.

Admission to the Premier enclosure starts from £34 per person for midweek racedays between January and March and from £23 and £15 per person for the County and Tattersalls Enclosures respectively. Group discounts are available as are a full range of hospitality options, perfect for combining raceday with first class dining. Restaurant packages start from £75 per head for Colours Restaurant rising to £105 per head for dining within the exclusive raceday environment of Harry’s Bistro.

Racecourses are particularly suited to corporate events and Haydock Park is no exception. While groups of between 2 and 20 can enjoy a Restaurant Package, similar sized parties can enjoy the racing in true style from the luxury and exclusivity of a private box. Private suites are also available to cater for up to 400 guests and any hospitality package of dining drinks and race associated facilities can be tailored to suit any style or size of private or corporate event.
